What to do if your cat goes missing
If your cat manages to escape the house or its enclosure, its important that you act fast! Don’t delay in posting them missing on social media. The sooner the word gets out the better. If you find them 10 mins later you can delete the post. Unfortunately, many people do not like cats and will shoo them away or worse, so you need as many people in your street to know your pet is missing. Even a few streets back as many missing cats are found within a few streets away.
Door knock and leave your number. You need to make it super easy for people to contact you if they see your pet. Cats also like to hide and can go into neighbours cars or garages and then get trapped when the doors are closed. Ask if you can take a quick look as the cat may stay hidden unless they see you.
Leave litter tray outside....the smell helps them home. This works 80% of the time! Leave food stations in a safe place that you can see at the same time in morning or on dusk. This will help them come back to the same place at the same time.
Sadly, it may take weeks or months for your cat to return but please don’t give up on them. They are alive and trying to survive. You may need to invest in a cat trap as many cats in fight or flight mode, wont just walk up to someone, even their owner. Keep their posts going on social media. Dont let your anxiety stop you from doing what it takes to find them. X
